Amethysts glass necklace
Necklace decorated with amethysts with filigree clasp. This type of heart-shaped clasp can be found on some of the most beautiful necklaces and bracelets of the late Roman era. The necklace, in addition to the original clasp, is made up of 7 irregular baroque 100% natural amethysts, a natural crystal stone and a green crystal stone, with 10 brass balls that are arranged symmetrically on each side of the necklace.
This type of collar closure was widely used in late Roman times.
The necklace is an inspiration for a 6th century Byzantine choker exhibited at the Met Museum in New York.
