P-515
$25.26

Reproduction of 'arracada' earrings.

'Arracadas' were a type of earrings, that unlike the earrings, has a hanging ornament. Formerly at weddings the man gave the woman, in addition to the ring, an ornament for the ears. These presents were called 'arras', from which the name of 'arracadas' would have been derived. The most common shape was the crescent moon.

Many ancient peoples such as the Egyptians, Assyrians, Phoenicians, Etruscans, Celts and Iberians wore circular earrings.

Belonging to the pre-Roman Iberian era, the original piece, made in gold, belongs to a private collection.
