Description

Ring with phallus in relief, centuries I to III d.C. The original piece is made of gold and is located in the Thorvaldsen Museum in Copenhagen.

The cult to the phallus in ancient Rome had a double function:

  • Protection against the evil eye.- Pliny the Elder called him medicus invidiae, the 'doctor' for envy or the evil eye.
  • Symbol of fertility. - The Romans felt great concern to protect and promote fertility, because it brought associated wealth and happiness.

To find the size of your ring, measure the inside diameter as shown in the image.
