Replica of a phalera made of bronze with the head of Medusa, formerly used to ward off evil and enemies.
Medusa is the Gorgon par excellence. The depiction of her head became a powerful protective amulet in Greek civilization and still endures over time, due to how Zeus used it on his Aegis shield.
The original piece was in the National Museum of Brazil; unfortunately, we do not know if it survived the great fire. We want to pay our small tribute to the lost heritage.
